A Look Inside Our 2019 Artisan Home

June is here and the 2019 Artisan Home Remodelers Tour is just one weeks away! The Schrader and Companies team is very excited to show off our latest lakeside remodel in Wayzata, MN. Originally built in the 1940s, this beautiful home sits on the picturesque shores of Lafayette Bay. Focused on leaving the charm of the home intact, we added modern touches to enhance the original architecture. The result is truly stunning, so be sure to stop out during the event!

From the getgo, the owners of this home knew the floor plan needed some redesigning. Not only did they want to capture views of the water but they also wanted to stay true to the home's French Colonial and Colonial Georgian architecture. To make the existing floor plan more functional, we reconfigured all three floors from top to bottom. Replacing some of the structural walls allowed us to open up the space and improve the layout. To create better sightlines to the lake, we altered the roofline of the master bedroom, as well as moved and enlarged the existing windows.

With the structural modifications out of the way, our team was able to add subtle modern touches to the interior of the home. An eye-catching element of this home was the original oak floors featured throughout. Refinishing the flooring brought it back to life and perfectly balances the more modern design details of the home. Next, we updated the lighting, cabinetry, and millwork. The finished design combined with the impressive views of the Lafayette Bay makes this whole home renovation a sight to see!
